Dear Members,

As Commodore, I have the unfortunate task of communicating the Directors' decision
regarding the opening date for the Club, following the Fire in early January.

The opening date is deferred until the Directors have been given a firm date from the
Contractors, for the completion of all works on the pier Buildings, which incorporates the
refurbishment of New Quay Yacht Club - Club House, Crows Nest, toilet / shower / changing
area and other associated Pier Buildings, some of these spaces are currently not occupied
by NQYC.

This was not a decision taken lightly. Navigating the "interested parties" involved, from
disaster recovery teams to the final contractors is complex. We are frequently working
through mediators rather than direct decision makers and we continue to push firmly at every
level to get the responses we need.

I’m sure as many of you know from experience, dealing with government bodies and
multi-party projects requires significant patience and persistence.

However, we are not simply waiting, we are using this time as an opportunity to refurbish the
bar area, addressing long-standing bar layout issues for our staff and volunteers and
"sprucing up" the Club room. Our goal is to refresh the space while carefully maintaining the
traditional Yacht Club feel that we all love.

On the water, the Sailing Committee has confirmed that with a few minor adjustments, the
coming season’s events will remain unchanged. With great teamwork, we will endure this
storm together.

We will share more details on the refurbishment and social events on the usual Social Media
outlets and on the NQYC website as they progress.

While we wish we could provide a specific date today, we are simply thankful that no one
was injured in the initial incident. We can fix the fire damage, but we are simply grateful that
our club and surrounding community remains intact and safe.
