New Quay Yacht Club
The Club thrives on the ethos of introducing youngsters to sailing and other water sports, allowing them develop at their own pace, with their own goals; whether this is competitive racing or pure pleasure, enjoying the wonderful waves, scenery and abundant wild life in Cardigan bay, with their majestic cliffs, bird life and wonderful dolphins... not to mention the lifelong frienedships forged ashore!
For a small club, of less than 300 members, what we lack for in size we make up for in friendship and ability. Taking advantageous of the wonderful wind and sea conditions the club punches above it's weight producing sailors of international and national recognition.
The club was founded in 1951, initially around the infamous GP 14, and hosted and won national team racing series through the 1960s under the helm of Roger Seal, Ian Willis, Douglas Williams, Caroline Fowler. These sailors introduced and taught their families to sail in New Quay, in Mirrors, Solos and later Lasers.

The above all gained their early confidence playing and learning in the ever changing waters of New Quay bay, free of the dangerous currents often found elsewhere in Wales. It is a safe place to bring your kids!
Optimist Learner sessions and work with the Cardigan Bay Watersports continue emphasize the value of learning to treat the water with respect but simultaneously appreciating the fun it can provide on regardless of the waterborne craft of choice
