Dinghy Hire Arrangements
Cardigan Bay Regatta
Sunday 23rd Aug, Monday 24th Aug (Main Day) and Tuesday 25th Aug 2020
Another very successful Cardigan Bay Regatta was held last week. NQYC offers their thanks to the CBR Committee and all the volunteers helping with race management and the inshore sports. A gallery of sailing photos are here
Congratulations to all competitors but Mark Willis and Ian Willis, (who are unrelated), collected many of the top prizes in the Cruiser and Dinghy fleet respectively.
The dinghy programme 2019 is being developed.
The Frostbite Dinghy Series was won by Hannah Schaffer and Jennifer Davies in a Laser 2000.
The development of new Sailors, both old and new is actively promoted by the Club. This includes
Push The Boat Out - an RYA nationally promoted event to encourage those new to the water to try various activities.
NQYC will be supporting PTBO on Sunday 19th May.
We will be laying on taster sessions in Dinghy Sailing, Cruiser Sailing and Powerboats during May> More details will follow.
RYA Level 1 & 2 Sail training[/link] -, provided by our partner - Cardigan Bay Watersports. 2 Specific courses are planned for the end of July & early August - for members, at preferential rates.
Many Members will refer to these as "Oppie Courses" but the dinghy type may change depending on weather and participants.
Key to encourage new participants is the agreement with CBW for preferential hire rates for these events, with additional discount for NQYC members.
If you wish to hire a dinghy for these races please advise Crawford in advance; turning up 30 min before the briefing requesting a boat may result in disappointment.
Races governed by current Racing Rules of Sailing and RYA Prescriptions. The current Portsmouth Yardstick handicap system will be used to correct results. Most races based on average lap time.
Inshore has sandcastles, barrel filling and treasure quiz on day 1,
swimming and rowing on main day (day 2)
and crabbing and raft building on day 3
