About

The Club thrives on the ethos of introducing youngsters to sailing and other water sports, allowing them develop at their own pace, with their own goals; whether this is competitive racing or pure pleasure, enjoying the wonderful waves, scenery and abundant wild life in Cardigan bay, with their majestic cliffs, bird life and wonderful dolphins... not to mention the lifelong frienedships forged ashore!
For a small club, of less than 300 members, what we lack for in size we make up for in friendship and ability. Taking advantageous of the wonderful wind and sea conditions the club punches above it's weight producing sailors of international and national recognition.

The club was founded in 1951, initially around the infamous GP 14, and hosted and won national team racing series through the 60s under the helm of Roger Seal, Ian Willis, Douglas Williams, Caroline Fowler ....
These sailors introduced and taught their families to sail in New Quay, in Mirrors, Solos and later lasers.

These "kids" continue to represent sailing at the highest level, most recent achievements include:

Tille James - Womens NAtiona Champion Fx49 2016
-British Sailing Team - Podium Potential Squad - 49fx
- Topper Worlds 2012 - 2nd Girl, 1st Junior and national Champion
Jonathon Price Jones - National Champion Westerly Fulmar 2015
Phil Thomas - World Champion J111 2015
Rich Thomas - Race Management - Olympics 2012
Will Best - 1st Sydney Hobart - Navigator onboard Loki - 2011

These achievements started as toddlers, learning their confidence on the soft flat sands of New Quay bay, free of the dangerous currents often found elsewhere in Wales. It is a safe place to bring your kids!
